It has been a long week.
I worked on the September / October issue of Vicksburg Living magazine, aAnd it never fails, no matter how far in advance I started to troubleshoot an issue, it always comes down to the thread when the deadline is met.
With the recent changes in the layout of the magazine, I must have become a bit more computer savvy.
It wasn’t pretty. Especially since I have a new laptop, which added to my learning curve.
The curve may put it lightly; rather it looked like a spike in education, and woe to those who will design the magazine.
My precious little editor was a gem when it came to needing help. She has not only been patient and supportive, but she is also continually encouraging. But God only knows what she said to her husband after hanging up the phone with me for the umpteenth time. It’s probably better I don’t know.
My youngest daughter was also helpful. She spent time converting the images I needed with her Photoshop skills.
Although it was difficult and my brain still looks like mush, I am excited about the magazine.
It has a “football” theme, which you’d think is outside of my wheelhouse, but there are a lot more aspects to highlight besides the game.
As usual, the other journalists in the newsroom did a wonderful job with their assignments. We have a cute little intern, who blew me away with her writing skills and Ernest, who is our sports editor, is the proofread bomb.
I encourage anyone who doesn’t have a subscription to seriously consider getting one. I believe this problem is going to be fun for people.
And while I’m on a roll on Vicksburg Living magazine, I also want to once again thank everyone who advertises. Without you there would be no magazine and that would be sad.
Not because I wouldn’t be doing something I really love, but because Vicksburg has so many interesting people and stories to highlight.
There are still a few edges to make after the designers start their work on this issue and before it prints, but for the most part I’m done and can now breathe easy.
That is, until it’s time to release the November / December issue!
