THOSE with thinner hair will know the difficulty of trying to make the hairstyle look fuller – it often seems that no amount of product will give the hair a boost.
However, a professional hairstylist has shared a hack that promises instant volume in seconds – without having to spend money on expensive products.
Chris Appleton, who has done his hair to celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Loppez, revealed the simple technique on his TikTok channel.
“This is perfect for anyone with thin hair who wants their messy bun to look like they’ll triple their fitness in minutes,” he captioned the viral video, which racked up more a million views in less than 24 hours.
To demonstrate the tutorial, he used the technique on a model whose hair had a fine texture.

To get started, he asked, pull your hair up into a high ponytail and use a scrunchie to tie it up.
Once done, spread your locks over the scrunchie and place another rubber band over it – this should create a small bun.
“Pull it up for height and cross the ends, pin it in place.
“You get that beautiful high knot that seems to triple the thickness in no time. ”
Fellow fans were in awe of how easy the trick was, with one commenting, “Omg Chris Appleton, giving thin hair advice is THE DREAM.”
”Do a LOT more with fine hair! I hate not being able to do much with my hair and that helps!” added a second.
“Finally someone showing fine hair tutorials,” another user wrote.
A TikTok user who had tried the hack left a review: “God this dude is so good and yes it works and looks great on my hair”, while someone else called it “incredible”.
However, despite the largely positive reviews, there were also a few critical people who claimed that the hair hack did not deliver the promised results.
“It doesn’t look the same when I do it,” read one.
“That’s the technique I use and I always get the volume from the first…” was another failed attempt.
