INDOT Holds US 20 Improvement Meeting in Middlebury


MIDDLEBURY, Ind. (WNDU) – Changes could happen in US 20 between CR 35 and SR 13 in Middlebury.

The Indiana Department of Transportation held a public hearing Wednesday night to discuss improvements to the highway.

The aim of the project is to improve safety by adding a left turn lane in both directions; improve traffic flow by adding lanes; and improve truck access to local businesses.

There would also be sidewalks and a specialized crosswalk.

“I think it’s safe to say that any project is exciting for us, because when we can make improvements and see those improvements and how it’s going to improve people’s lives, who wouldn’t want to look at that and see those benefits come. materialize light? ”said INDOT’s public relations director for the northeast district Hunter Petroviak.

“It’s something that is needed and I think it’s something that will get a lot of people excited. It is something that everyone looks forward to; bring more people to town, ”said Northridge High School resident and athletic principal David Harms.

“This will truly be the first time the general public has heard anything about what we are proposing to do here in the region. They will have the opportunity to speak with the designers of the project and they will have the opportunity to voice their concerns, ”said Petroviak.
