Growing up on a small, isolated farm with her family, farmer and innovator Sarah Frey knows what it means to be isolated and alone. Faced with poverty and hardship, Sarah Frey left her home at the age of 15 and began implementing her plan to escape rural poverty and leave the farm for good.

As a teenager, when the land she grew up on faced impending foreclosure, she made a decision that would change the course of her life and the future of the family. In her new book, “The Growing Season”, Frey shares her personal story, including how she bought the farm and became one of America’s largest producers and suppliers of fresh produce providing fresh fruits and vegetables to major retailers in the country.

“Everyone faces adversity at some point in their life, but it’s important to remember that nothing holds us back forever,” Frey said. “We all have the courage within us to overcome fear and challenges. Overcome the obstacles

Frey speaks from personal experience. She faced many obstacles in her young life, from having to hunt and harvest her own food to finding the courage to negotiate with the world’s largest retailers as a teenager. Her difficult upbringing prepared her for the business world.

“Farmers are eternal optimists,” Frey said. “Life is just a succession of growing seasons. Some are more difficult than others, but those that fallow can teach us as much as those that are generous. Beyond the pumpkins

Beyond pumpkins, Frey Farms also produces watermelons and other fruits and vegetables available nationwide under the Sarah’s Homegrown brand.
